Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence DVD

David Bowie stars as Jack Celliers, a spirited British officer captured by Japanese forces and held at a POW camp by honour-bound Capt. Yanoi (Ryuichi Sakamoto). Yanoi and gruff Sgt. Hara (Takeshi Kitano) become intrigued with Celliers’ open defiance in the face of their ideas about cowardice and shame.

Meanwhile, Celliers befriends translator Lft. Col John Lawrence (Tom Conti), and the two seek to better understand their captors. From critically acclaimed Director Nagisa Ôshima (In the Realm of the Senses), Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence is a fascinating war drama that looks at the lengths enemies will go to protect their way of life.
